Inspired by a dream, this piece aims to capture my lucid visions of the spirit of the great Kongo Ancestor roaming the Americas from a distance. In the foreground, my siblings and I catch a terrifying glimpse of the giant Ancestor before running in fear. This piece was the first piece in the Congoism series and is a symbol for my own inner calling, the beginning of the journey-to look deeper within myself and my ancestry and to not only bring it to life, but bridge my two identities of being African and being Black in America.
